Holder of a doctorate in ethnology, Regula Tschumi began practicing photography as part of her research on figurative coffins and palanquins in Ghana, conducted between 2003 and 2012. While her images initially had a documentary purpose, they quickly gained an artistic dimension: they have been exhibited in numerous museums and published in various specialized works.

Alongside her academic work, Tschumi pursues a more personal photographic practice during her travels. Her sensitive and poetic eye captures daily life in Ghana with spontaneity, revealing through fleeting scenes the richness, beauty, and complexity of Ghanaian culture.
