B-Side: Marianna Hatzinikolaou

16 April - 30 May 2026
Overview

B-Side is a dedicated space for experimentation, where the gallery invites an artist to present a proposal in the storefront on Rue de Crussol.

TRIPOD'S CYCLE

The works on display come from Tripod's Cycle, a series of sculptures and drawings initiated in 2026. The figure of the Tripod is reimagined as animated silhouettes that ramble on about the tragicomic and the absurdity of existence.
A sculpture resembling a shod animal, with its little boot placed on a sky-colored podium, offers a gesture of openness and honesty.

A total and sensitive body of work

Marianna Hatzinikolaou is an atypical figure. Being an artist among humans is an innate condition that can emerge at any point in life. The story of Bertrand Lavier, who was devoted to horticulture before experiencing his “artistic awakening” while passing the same gallery every day, is well known. Marianna, for her part, took a more winding path: after studying art and pursuing a career in graphic design, she drew from all her influences until this new reality felt possible.

She works extensively with drawing, approaching it in her own way by exploring a “total,” boundary-free vision—an immersive and gentle path. Every surface and the very frame that carries the image are treated: Marianna holds nothing back. She sands, scratches, sketches, erases, abrades again… and then lets it go. The miracle happens—the evidence is there: a drawing, and a destiny, are born.

Her works “absorb” their frames with great delicacy, engaging with a sensitivity that hovers around the third dimension. Marianna Hatzinikolaou also practices sculpture. The evolving work of this singular artist moves and transports us, through her technical mastery, into a world of duality—shadow and light, softness and violence… a journey through her timeless vision of the world.
