Marianna Hatzinikolaou

16 April - 30 May 2026

B-SIDE IS A DEDICATED SPACE FOR EXPERIMENTATION, WHERE THE GALLERY INVITES AN ARTIST TO PRESENT A PROPOSAL IN THE STOREFRONT ON RUE DE CRUSSOL.

TRIPOD’S CYCLE

The works presented are drawn from Tripod’s Cycle, a series of sculptures and drawings begun in 2026. The figure of the Tripod is “fabled” into animated silhouettes that ramble on about the tragicomic and the absurdity of existence.

A sculpture with the appearance of a shod animal, its little boot placed upon a sky-colored pedestal, shows a clean paw.

A total and sensitive body of work
Marianna Hatzinikolaou is an atypical figure. Being an artist among humans is an innate condition that can emerge at any moment in life. The art world knows the story of Bertrand Lavier, once devoted to horticulture, who had his “artistic awakening” while passing the same gallery every day. Marianna, for her part, “beat around the bush” a little: studies in art and a career in graphic design led her to gather from all her sources until this new reality became possible. She practices drawing extensively, approaching it in her own way, exploring a “total” vision without boundaries—an approach that is both more immersive and more gentle. Indeed, every surface and the very frame upon which the image floats are “worked”: Marianna holds nothing back—she sands, scratches, sketches, erases, abrades again… and then lets go… The miracle has taken place; the evidence is there—a drawing and a destiny are born. Her works “absorb” their frames with great delicacy, thus flirting with a distinct sensitivity that edges toward the third dimension.

Marianna Hatzinikolaou also practices sculpture. The evolving work of this singular artist moves us and carries us along, through her technical mastery, into a universe of duality—shadow and light, gentleness and violence… a journey through her timeless vision of the world.
